Selected spreads for a redesign of The New York Times article by Yi-Ling Lui titled “How a Dating App helped a Generation of Chinese Come out of the Closet” into a 36 page booklet.
Emulating the feeling of the 2000s browser, which is where the earliest gay communities began to form online, the blue images and the text replicate hyperlinks where the image is figuratively derived from clicking on the blue text. The idea of censorship is played around with unloaded images and blacked out text.
